Our Vision
To be a leading Church that proclaims the Gospel of Christ in word, deed and service.

Our Mission
To serve and help develop people holistically through the preaching and teaching the Word of God as stipulated in the Anglican Articles of Faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. To work and advocate for justice, peace, equality, integrity and human dignity.

Background
The current Diocese of Southern Malawi came into being in 2002 as a result of the rationalization and split of the then Diocese of Southern Malawi into two Dioceses, Upper Shire and Southern Malawi. The first Synod of the New Diocese was held on 4th May 2002 at Chilema.

The boundaries of the Diocese are the rivers Namadzi, Phalombe and Shire. The area covers the administrative districts of Blantyre, Chikwawa, Chiradzulu, Mulanje, Nsanje, Phalombe and Thyolo. The Diocesan Headquarters are in Limbe, a small town on the outskirts of Blantyre.

Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. James Tengatenga headed the Diocese up to 30th December, 2013. Currently the Diocese is being headed by Bishop Rt. Rev. Alinafe Kalemba: MA.
