The current Diocese of Southern Malawi came into being in 2002 as a result of the rationalization and split of the then Diocese of Southern Malawi into two Dioceses, Upper Shire and Southern Malawi. The first Synod of the New Diocese was held on 4th May 2002 at Chilema.
The boundaries of the Diocese are the rivers Namadzi, Phalombe and non generic levitra Shire.
